Teaching Experience
This is a collection of projects and photos from my time teaching at a Chinese school at Penn State.
2019-2020
From 2019 to 2020, I was invited to teach children's art classes at a local Chinese school, where I designed and led over 16 engaging, interactive lessons. Through teaching and interacting with these wonderful students, I realized that visual art education is not just about nurturing future artists—it helps children express themselves, develop problem-solving skills, and see the world in new ways.

In one class, I provided students with a basic outline of a human body along with crepe paper, markers, shiny diamond stickers, and old magazines. After a brief presentation on fashion shows, I encouraged the students to design clothing on paper. I was amazed by their uninhibited creativity—they were unafraid of making mistakes or being constrained by conventional ideas of how clothing should be worn.

In another class, I asked the students to construct a future city using colorful paper and cardboard. I demonstrated a few ways to fold paper and create three-dimensional spaces. After showing them how to bend paper strips and attach them vertically to the base, some students began layering the strips together, forming sphere-like shapes. It was amazing to see how they learned by analogy, thinking in such dynamic and abstract ways. This exercise helps children develop a sense of space and strengthen their spatial thinking skills.
